Study Course Enrollment Specifics

  • This varies from state to state. Unfortunately we have no control over that
  • If you are in a state that requires you to schedule the exam first, you will schedule the exam, and then send a screenshot of your confirmation to allie.goodmanffl@gmail.com OR to (704)-692-1410
  • Once we have confirmation we send over the study course
  • We recommend pushing it out far enough in advance to allow time for the study course
  • Most people can complete the study course in 7-14 days
  • We typically require that the study course and exam be completed within the 10 - 14 days of starting/enrolling in the course
The study course it through XCEL. When you receive the initial “Welcome Email” you will see a link to enroll in the study course that is through XCEL.

You are only required to take the pre-licensing Life.
You will see options for Life & Health ; Life, Accident, & Health but you are only required to take the Pre-licensing Life. Some people will do the life & health combo but we mainly focus on life products.
  • Yes, technically you need a proctor. Most people use roommates, neighbors, libraries (they typically offer proctor services), or a significant other
  • Exam date - you would choose the date that you’re planning on taking the course exam NOT the date of your state exam/licensing exam
  • The address - you would use your current address
  • The exam on the course is a practice exam

State Exam Specifics

NOTE: If you are having trouble with exam signup, select a state to view the licensing requirements.
Use your mailing address.
You will need to select the “Life” option. You will probably see a “Life and Health” option but you will just need “Life” because that is the study course you completed.
  • This varies from state to state. Some states will require that you go to a testing site/center
  • Some states will give you both options: take the exam from home/remote OR at a testing site/center
  • IF you are in a state that gives you both options, it is up to you what you select BUT we typically recommend taking the exam at a testing center.
We recommend taking the exam from a testing center because in the past, some people ran into issues when taking the exam from home and were not able to connect to the online exam. In this situation if you’re not able to connect you will not be able to receive a refund. You would have to completely reschedule the exam.
  • When finding an exam you may see the options OPLife01 and Ins_Life01
    • The OP option is online. The Ins option is a testing site. Again select whichever option you are comfortable with but remember if you do it remotely and run into issues connecting, then you would not receive a refund.
  • Each state is different and can potentially require certain programs/software
  • We recommend contacting your state because that is the best source
  • You can typically Google - Exam & Licensing Procedures (Insert “your state” insurance department)
  • Refer to your original exam confirmation email to see if there are instructions for rescheduling OR contact the specific test site in which you signed up through.
    • You will need to reference this link
      • The link above will show you the licensing requirements for each state.
    • After viewing the licensing requirements for your state, you will need to apply for your license
    • NOTE: After you pass your state exam, most states will give you instructions on when and how to apply for your state license. Usually the state provides that once you receive your scores. If the state gives you instruction you can follow those steps
    • Some states will want you to apply for your license through NIPR
